{{forgive the stinky pictures in this post…cruddy weather and a tired photographer }}
I love all the subway art that’s out there right now. I wanted to do one for our home, I just could never decide on what I wanted. One for the living room? the kids’ rooms? kitchen? I did want it to have meaning. Finally it hit me…numbers. You see, we are an Army family. In our {almost} 15 year marriage we have lived in six different houses. Really not that bad for the Army. Six houses, six house numbers.
side note: I have this thing…I don’t want to put anything up in the house if it doesn’t have meaning for our family. Because we do move so much, I like to make the house home-y. So no matter what house we are in, it feels like home. Like they say, “Home is where the Army sends you!”
That would be my subway art! I painted a large canvas I bought at the craft store an off-black color…24X36 inches. I pulled out the trusty Cricut and got to cutting. I used plain white cardstock. Then I mod-podged the numbers on. I love how it all came together. I’m also glad I went with the ‘nineteen’ written out. You see, our actual house number on that house was written out above our door {{meaning!}}.
I hung it alone on the landing of the stairs. LOVE!
